If you are as old as me, you'll remember when CDs first appeared and it was hard to believe that shiny silver discs would replace your coveted black vinyl.
Nowadays of course we've gone all digital - most kids don't even know what a record player is.
Admittedly, the new formats are certainly more convenient. I don't know about you, but my car stereo doesn't have a slot for seven inch singles. And I much prefer walking around with an ipod in my pocket than a stereo unit strapped to my back.
But that doesn't mean that your record collection should just sit in a corner gathering dust.
In fact you can give your records a new lease of life by converting them into digital files via the USB Turntable TTUSB.
It looks like an ordinary record player and does indeed play both 45s and LPs. But where it comes into its own is when you connect it to your computer - PC or Mac - via the usb cable and software that comes with it.
Then you can convert all of your vinyl tracks into digital tracks - ready for burning onto a CD or for use on your MP3 player!
It's even got a line input so that you can digitise tracks from other sources - including old tape cassettes.
Just what the music doctor ordered and available now pop pickers from The Gadget Shop, price £99.99.
